Words: Nick Kenny & Charles Kenny, Music: J. Fred Coots
"Love Letters in the Sand" is a popular song first published in 1931. The music was written by J. Fred Coots and the lyrics by Nick Kenny and Charles Kenny. The song was "inspired" by an 1881 composition, "The Spanish Cavalier" by William D. Hendrickson. Ted Black's orchestra had the first major hit.
Pat Boone's cover became a major hit in June and July 1957, spending 5 weeks at number one on the Billboard Top 100, with 34 weeks in total on the chart. Billboard ranked it as the No. 2 song for 1957. The song was used in Boone's film "Bernardine". Boone also did the whistling in the instrumental portion of the song as well. The song originally had a short instrumental introduction, however, most versions begin with Boone's voice.

The Bob Crewe Generation (1966), Andy Williams (1967)
W&M by Sidney Ramin and Anthony Velona
"Music to Watch Girls By" was the first Top 40 hit by Bob Crewe using his own name, recorded by his group The Bob Crewe Generation. Crewe first heard the song performed in a "jingle demo" for a Diet Pepsi commercial. Music was composed by Sidney "Sid" Ramin. The "big-band, horn driven" recording went to #15 on the pop chart and #2 on the Easy Listening chart. According to Greg Adams, writing for All Music Guide, the song "exemplified the groovy state of instrumental music at that time." Other instrumental versions of the song were recorded by Billy Vaughn, Chet Atkins, Al Hirt and Walter Wanderley. A vocal recording by Andy Williams, featuring lyrics written by Tony Velona, went to #34 in the United States, and after it was used in a Fiat ad in the UK, the re-released single reached the top ten. The version by Al Hirt reached #31 on the Adult Contemporary chart and #119 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967. In 1967 Leonard Nimoy covered the song, renamed "Music To Watch Space Girls By" (a pre-space disco and Trek-related version) for his debut album Leonard Nimoy Presents Mr. Spock's Music From Outer Space. The Higsons covered the vocal version in 1984; this was released on a single and the album The Curse of the Higsons.
