| I Wish You Love | 41kb 3:12mpt |
Written by Léo Chauliac, with French lyrics under the title "Que reste-t-il de nos amours? (translated: "What is left of our loves?")" by Charles Trenet. It was first recorded by Keely Smith in 1957. It has since become a standard, with many other recordings. Gloria Lynne's 1964 recording for the Everest label reached #28 on the Billboard Hot 100, also top #10 on the Easy Listening chart (edited from the Hot 100), and #3 on Cashbox Magazine's R&B chart (Billboard did not publish standard R&B listings during 1964). Music: Jule Styne, Lyrics: Sammy Cahn (1944) Dinah Shore made the best-known version of this song, recording it twice. She first introduced it in the Universal Studios film "Follow the Boys" and taking it to the top of the charts (her first #1 hit) for four weeks and reaching number ten on The Harlem Hit Parade in 1944, and later rerecorded the song in the early 1960s. Martha Tilton also fared well, placing the song in Billboard's Top Ten. Oddly, when the song was revived in the 1950s, it was often done by male singers, with a very popular version being done by Don Cornell (1952 top ten). Jazz, Vocal, EZ Listening, Stage & Screen |

| Indian Summer | 40kb 3:42mpt |
Written as a piano piece by the prolific composer Victor Herbert. Al Dubin later wrote the lyrics. Herbert composed the tune in 1919, but it did not become a standard until much later. Sheet music exists for Everett Hoagland and Don Reid versions, dating to 1934 and 1939 respectively, but the provenance of the second of these, at least, is doubtful, as Reid may not even have formed an orchestra until 1944. Dubin wrote his lyrics for the song in 1939, and in 1940 Tommy Dorsey's orchestra, with vocalist Frank Sinatra, took it to number one on the American Hit Parade. Jazz, Jazz Standard, EZ Listening |

Lyrics written by Paul Anka and popularized by Frank Sinatra. The melody is based on a French song "Comme d'habitude" composed by Claude François and Jacques Revaux. Anka's English lyrics are unrelated to the original French by Claude François and Gilles Thibaut and Anka is credited as a co-composer of "My Way" because he largely re-wrote the song. "My Way" is often quoted as the most remade song in history. Jazz, Vocal, Traditional Pop, Pop/Rock, R&B, and more. |
